Tamil Nadu: 3 killed, 5 hurt in boiler explosion

Chennai, Apr 5 (UNI) Three people were killed and five others sustained burns in a boiler explosion at a furnace company near at Melpakkam village near Uthiramerur in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu on Friday.

Reports received at the police headquarters here said the incident took place in the furnace company, which was making iron blocks by melting the old iron pieces.
The hot iron mould fell on the workers following a explosion, killing three people of the spot and five others sustained injuries and burns.


While four of the injured were admitted to SRM Medical College hospital at Potheri, the other was shifted to Government Kilpauk Medical College hospital in Chennai for treatment.


The bodies of the deceased, identified as Dinesh, Akilesh and Surender, were shifted to Uthiramerur government hospital.


Police are investigating.
