Suresh Prabhu quits Sena, joins BJP to be minister

New Delhi, Nov 9 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inducted Suresh Prabhu of Shiv Sena as a cabinet minister in his ministry expansion, against the wishes of his party, but later reports said Prabhu has actually left Sena and joined the BJP.
According to a CNN IBN report, Prabhu took membership of Bharatiaya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday morning even as Shiv Sena boycotted the oath-taking ceremony.

Reports said  Sena's Anil Desai, who was to be inducted in the ministry as a State Minister, too was asked to return from the Delhi airport by the party because he was not given a cabinet rank.

With Desai going back, the Modi government inducted 21 new ministers, including four of cabinet ranks, instead of 22 earlier scheduled to take oath.

Induction of Prabhu is seen as a snub to Sena by BJP. Prabhu was not a choice of Shiv Sena.

With induction of Prabhu, the Sena and BJP seemed to be heading for a collision path that the two had taken well before the assembly polls in Maharashtra when their poll alliance failed to materialize.

Reports said in Maharashtra Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray might now even sit in the Opposition.
