State-wide bandh disrupts life in Karnataka on Friday

Bengaluru, Sep 9 (IBNS): Life in many parts of Karnataka came to a standstill on Friday following the state-wide bandh called to protest against the Supreme Court's directive to Karnataka to release the Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. according to media reports.

 While cities such as Bengaluru and Mysuru come to a standstill as the public transport is paralysed, and protests were noted in Mandya district, residents of Mangaluru were seen going about their daily lives normally, reported The Hindu.

The BJP Karnataka unit tweeted, "We don’t have water for even drinking purpose, forget about irrigation purpose: @BSYBJP."

On Thursday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also appealed for peace on Twitter and requested that people should not destroy property to protest the injustice meted out to them.
