State not getting adequate supply of vaccines : Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope

Mumbai/UNI: Maharashtra State health minister Rajesh Tope expressed concern that the state is not getting adequate supply of vaccines to prevent corona virus infection.

"If we had contacted Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, he would have responded positively," said Tope.

He was talking to the media in Mumbai last evening .

"Although the central government will send 17 lakh vaccines instead of 7.5 lakh after April 15, it is not enough," Tope said.

"Only 7.5 lakh vaccines have been given to our state. In comparison, Uttar Pradesh is about 48 lakhs, Madhya Pradesh is about 40 lakhs, Gujarat is about 30 lakhs and Haryana is 24 lakhs," he said.

"And so we have to pay forty lakhs a week, one crore and sixty lakhs a month, only then can we maintain our momentum," he said.

"We have discussed with the officials of the injection manufacturing companies on Remedicivir in view of shortage and ask them to enhance production with caping rates , as well as the supply of oxygen in the state," Tope added.
