SSB seized in north Bengal

Kolkata, June 10 (IBNS) Border guarding troops of the Siliguri Frontier Unit of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), this week, seized contraband goods with a cumulative face-value of over Rs. 18 lakh apprehending four smugglers in their operations in north Bengal.

The smuggled goods partially seized today, included teak and other costly wood amounting to over Rs. 10 lakh 97 thousand which was being smuggled after illegally felling teak and other trees.

The other goods included cigarette, clothing items, fruits, cosmetics and vehicles.

Today, a border patrol of SSB jawans of BoP (Border Outpost) Madanjote near Ranidanga seized two thousand packets of cigarettes worth Rs. 77 thousand that were smuggles from Nepal to India, informed the Frontier Headquarters spokesperson, A K Vickson on Friday.

The other contrabands were intercepted from Indo-Bhutan and Indo-Nepal border areas.

One of the apprehended persons hailed from Nepal.
