Srinagar-Jammu highway opens for one-way traffic after four days

Drinagar, Jan 29 (IBNS): The 300-km-long strategic Srinagar-Jammu highway opened for one-way traffic on Sunday after remaining closed for four days due to snowfall.


Light-motor vehicles were allowed to move towards Kashmir after clearance of landslides at Panthal, official said.

“Stranded vehicles for four days at Ramban were allowed to move towards Kashmir on priority basis,” said the official, adding that no traffic would be allowed to move towards Jammu.

The closure of the highway witness shortage of vegetables and meat.

Authorities claimed that enough supplies of petroleum products including cooking gas were available in the Valley, but people in many areas have been complaining of shortages.
