Mumbai, Feb 27 (IBNS): The private jet carrying Indian actress Sridevi's mortal remains has landed at the Mumbai airport, media reports said on Tuesday.

Sridevi's mortal remains were brought to India by her husband Boney Kapoor, stepson Arjun Kapoor and brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor.

According to media reports, actor Anil Kapoor and other family members are at the airport to receive her.

The remains will be brought out of the airport after some formalities are done.

The last rite will take place at Vile Parle Seva Samaj Crematorium and Hindu Cemetery on Wednesday at around 3.30 in the afternoon.

Her body will be kept at Celebration Sports Club in Lokhandwala for her fans and celebrities to pay their last respects before it is taken for cremation.

Indian ambassador to UAE, Navdeep Suri, tweeted: "After completion of all local processes, mortal remains of #Sridevi are now on enroute to Mumbai. Must acknowledge sterling efforts of CG Vipul and team @cgidubai Thanks to example set by Min @SushmaSwaraj we quietly do the same for any Indians in distress. We care."

While there were several doubts about her death, the Dubai Police on Tuesday said it has closed investigation into the death of Indian actress Sridevi.

The Indian film actress passed away in Dubai on Saturday.

Her body was earlier handed over to her family.

"The Public Prosecutor's Office of the Emirate of Dubai has decided to hand over the body of Indian actress Sridevi Kapoor to her relatives on Tuesday after the investigation of her death and the closure of the incident," tweeted the Dubai Police.

Earlier in the day Bollywood celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, were spotted outside Anil Kapoor's residence.

Sridevi died in a Dubai hotel on Saturday.

On Monday, Dubai Police revealed that Sridevi’s death ‘occurred due to drowning in her hotel apartment’s bathtub following loss of consciousness.

This added a new twist to the episode as early report suggested that she died following a cardiac arrest.

Some media reports also claimed that traces of alcohol have been found in her blood in the autopsy report.

Sridevi along with her husband, producer Bonney Kapoor and other members of the entire family was in UAE to attend the wedding ceremony of Mohit Marwah, a close relative.

The news of Sridevi’s death came as a huge shock to the entire film fraternity as well as her fans.
