Special moment for Indian sports: PM Modi praises Avani Lekhara who clinched gold in Paralympics

New Delhi/IBNS: Praising shooter Avani Lekha, who clinched the gold medal in Paralympics 2021 Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it was a special moment for Indian sports.

Modi tweeted, "Phenomenal performance @AvaniLekhara! Congratulations on winning a hard-earned and well-deserved Gold, made possible due to your industrious nature and passion towards shooting. This is truly a special moment for Indian sports. Best wishes for your future endeavours."

India got their new icon on Monday when shooter Avani Lekhara clinched the gold medal in the  women's 10m Air Rifle Standing (SH1) event at the Tokyo Paralympics on Monday.

Avani won the gold medal by scoring the Paralympics record of 249.6.
