SP factional feud : Mulayam Singh leaves for Delhi to meet EC, Akhilesh collects signatures of support
According to media reports, Mulayam was accompanied by his brother Shivpal Yadav.
The reports said the Mulayam camp claimed to have amassed the signatures of MLAs, MLCs and MPs to be presented to the EC. The number of supporters is not immediately known.
However, the Akhilesh camp claims that the Chief Minister has been able to rope in the support of nearly 200 MLAs who visited his residence with all of them submitting signed affidavits in his favour. The Samajwadi Party has 229 MLAs in the Assembly.
The commission has served notices to the factions of Mulayam Singh and Akhilesh Yadav asking them to provide supporting documents and evidence in their favour for claiming the party symbol.
