Guwahati, Dec 6 (IBNS) : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal mourned the death of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa describing her as a ‘people’s leader’ whom the country had lost.

In his condolence message on Tuesday, Sonowal said that a very popular and dynamic leader, J. Jayalalithaa was a long serving Chief Minister who served the people very passionately.

"The country lost a leader of immense potential. J. Jayalalithaa’s death is premature and untimely and is bound to create a void which will be very hard to fill. I pray to God for her soul to rest in peace," Sonowal said.

"J. Jayalalithaa was a seasoned and veteran leader and is known for her ardent love for the service of all and sundry. She won love and affection from all because of her compassionate approach towards the poor and needy," the Assam CM said.
