Sonia Gandhi condemns J&K violence

New Delhi, July 11 (IBNS): Congress Sonia Gandhi on Monday condemned loss of lives in the ongoing violence in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Congress party tweeted: "Smt. Sonia Gandhi has expressed deep anguish at the loss of innocent lives in the senseless violence in parts of J&K in the past few days."

The toll in the ongoing violence in Kashmir that erupted after the killing of Hizb commander Burhan Wani has risen to 25 with the death of a young girl in Pulwama area of South Kashmir.

The valley has been on edge since the killing top Hizb commander Burhan wani along with his two associates on Friday evening in South Kashmir.

Since Friday night 25 persons, most of them teenaged, have died during violent clashes with security forces in different areas of South Kashmir.

Among those killed is a Kashmir policeman during clashes  with unruly mob in Anantang on Sunday.

The state government has urged the Kashmiri separatist groups to appeal to the  people to maintain calm and peace.

As precautionary measures, mobile internet services, movement of trains and Amarnath yatra remain  suspended since Friday evening.

Authorities have imposed prohibitory orders in most areas of Srinagar  city and four districts of south Kashmir, officials said.
