Kolkata/Jalpaiguri, Oct 15 (IBNS): The forest guards on Friday midnight detained four snake-poison traffickers at Phulbari area in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district and seized huge snake poison worth nearly 250 crore rupees from their possessions, reports said.

According to reports, based on credible source inputs, a team of forest guards, led by Belkoba forest ranger Sanjay Dutta, nabbed the smugglers and recovered the venom.

"Acting on a tip off, we held three residents of South Dinajpur district- Sujay Das, Bipul Sarkar and Pintu Banerjee- and a resident of Malda district- Amal Nubia- from Phulbari area and seized five glass-made containers, filled by snake poison, from their possessions," a senior official West Bengal Forest Department told IBNS.

"The approximate market value of the venom is nearly 250 crore rupees," the official further added.

Till the latest update came in, the snake-poison traffickers are being interrogated and they would be handed over to the police later.
