Siraj Hussain assumes charge as new Agriculture Secretary

New Delhi, Mar 2 (IBNS) Siraj Hussain has assumed charge as Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, officials said on Monday.

"Siraj Hussain, IAS, 1979 batch Uttar Pradesh Cadre, assumed charge as Secretary, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture on 28 February 2015. He succeeds Shri Ashish Bahuguna who retired on same day," read a government statement.

"Earlier, he also worked in Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture as Additional Secretary and Special Secretary. Before his appointment to new assignment, he was Secretary to Ministry of Food Processing Industries. He also served as CMD of Food Corporation of India for over two years," it said.
