Sikkim extends anti-Covid-19 lockdown till Aug 1

Gangtok/UNI: The Sikkim government has extended lockdown in the face of the worsening Coronavirus situation in the hill state till Aug 1.

Education Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha has announced the closure of all the educational institutes, including private institutes, till the end of August.

The situation will be reviewed and, if required, the lockdown may be extended.

The education minister has appealed to all the students, teachers and parents to continue with online learning programmes and "Home Schooling" following Covid-19 protocols.

The students are attending classes conducted via local TV channel ‘Samvaad’ and All India Radio ,Gangtok, with home assignments sent on WhatsApp.
