Shatrughan Sinha considers 'arrogance', 'overconfidence' as reasons behind BJP's defeats in UP

New Delhi, Mar 15 (IBNS): Actor-turned politician Shatrughan Sinha took a dig at BJP's dual by-poll defeats in Uttar Pradesh.

Sinha, who is also BJP's Lok Sabha MP, indirectly said the arrogance, overconfidence and short temper led to the downfall of the saffron party in UP.

He also took the name of US President Donald Trump to take the jibe at the BJP.

In a tweet, Sinha said: ".....I have been repeatedly saying that arrogance, short temper or overconfidence are the biggest killers in democratic politics, whether it comes from Trump, Mitron or opposition leaders.... Jai Hind!

In both Gorakhpur and Phulpur seats, the SP and Mayawati's BSP contested by forming an alliance.

Both Gorakhpur and Phulpur seats were the bastions of UP CM Yogi Adityanath and deputy Cm Keshav Prasad Maurya respectively.

The BJP and its allies had registered a landslide victory in UP in 2017 by bagging 325 seats in 403-member Assembly.

Sinha has earlier also made the BJP uncomfortable by his comments.

He is an MP from Patna Sahib constituency of Bihar.
