Sharad Pawar also knows which way wind is blowing: PM Modi in Maharashtra

Wardha, Apr 1 (IBNS): Mocking Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar's decision to stay from contesting the Lok Sabha Election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the veteran politician also knows which way the wind is blowing, hinting at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s victory.

"Sharad Pawar at one point wanted to become the Prime Minister. Later he said he was happy with his Rajya Sabha seat. He also knows which way the wind is blowing," the BJP's main campaigner said in an election rally in Maharashtra's Wardha.

Also Modi hit out at Pawar over his family rift in the state, which is presently under the rule of BJP and Shiv Sena.

"Family conflict is going on in NCP now. Sharad Pawar is losing control of his party which is slowly falling into the hands of his nephew. There is a problem of ticket distribution in NCP," the Prime Minister said.

In the state of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena, which had criticised the BJP in last few years, decided to go to polls with the saffron party.

On the other hand, Congress and NCP have joined hands to prevent BJP from coming to power for the second straight terms.

Bringing back the Balakot airstrike issue, Modi accused Congress and other opposition parties of giving statements against the country. He also questioned the Opposition's demand for proof of the airstrike which was conducted after Feb 14 Pulwama terror attack.

"Congress and others are making statements which are celebrated in Pakistan. Whom do you want? The hero of India or the hero of Pakistan," the Prime Minister asked.

In Wardah, Modi also urged all voters to deny a single seat to the Congress-NCP.
