Several buildings crack in Assam, tremors felt across NE region

Guwahati, Apr 25 (IBNS) : The 7.9 magnitude earthquake rocked Himalayan region on Saturday morning which was also felt in Assam and other parts of the north eastern region.

There were no reports of any major damage in the state so far but several buildings and private properties were damaged in Guwahati, Morigaon, Bongaigaon, Majuli.

The NDRF and SDRF teams in Guwahati were been alerted after the horror earthquake.

"We are alert for any situation in the state. We have no reports of any major damage in Guwahati and other parts of the state, " a top official of NDRF said.

On other hand, the state government has instructed all district administrations to tackle any situation that might arise due to the earthquake.
