Senior advocate Rajeev Dhavan quits court practice citing humiliation
New Delhi, Dec 11 (IBNS): Senior advocate Rajeev Dhawan, in a letter to Chief Justice of India, Dipak Misra, has said that he has decided to give up court practice, according to media reports on Monday.
Rajeev Dhavan claimed that he has been humiliated by the Court during the hearing of the Delhi CM vs LG matter.
In his letter, which has been published across media, he said, "After the humiliating end to the Delhi case, I have decided to give up court practice.
You are entitled to take back the senior gown conferred on me, though I would like to keep it for memory and services rendered."
A few days back, the media had reported how the Chief Justice Misra and other judges of the five-member Constitution Bench had spoken sharply against the alleged practice by some senior advocates and lawyers of raising their voices during arguments when the Court disagreed with them.
The CJI referred to arguments advanced by senior advocates Kapil Sibal, Dushaynt Dave and Rajeev Dhavan in the Ayodhya case on Tuesday and the manner in which Dhavan argued on Wednesday for Delhi government in its turf war with the Centre, reported TOI.
