Secunderabad: Minor fire breaks out at Rail Nilayam

Hyderabad, Apr 19 (UNI) A minor fire incident occurred on the 7th Floor of South Central Railway’s Headquarters Office building, Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad in the early hours on Friday.

Timely action by the On Duty Railway Staff who noticed the fire immediately alerted the local fire brigade and ensured that the fire was brought under control within a short time.

Office furniture, records and computers got burnt in the affected portion of the floor which housed the office of Signal & Telecommunications wing of SCR, a South Cental Railway statement here said.

On receipt of information, SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya rushed to the spot of the incident along with other Officials to take stock of the incident and analyze the damage caused.

He inspected the entire premises which was affected due to fire and instructed officials to ensure that all records and other material be carefully sorted and kept secured.

The General Manager directed that an immediate fire audit be taken up in all the Railway office buildings. He also instructed that fire safety measures which are already in place should be further strengthened to eliminate any probability of a accident.

“A high-level inquiry will also be conducted to assess the damage caused and arrive at the actual cause for the fire incident,” Mallya added.
