Hyderabad, Jan 13 (IBNS): The Supreme Court of India, on Friday, refused to pass any fresh order to stop cockfights in Andhra Pradesh, according to media reports.

According to media reports, an Animal Welfare Board member had requested the apex court to consider on an urgent basis a plea to order the Andhra Pradesh government to implement the ban on cockfights in the state.

But SC refused to consider the urgent plea.

Cockfight is a popular sport during the Sankranti festival in Andhra Pradesh, and involves huge bets.

The Hyderabad Court, in December, upheld the ban on the sport held in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, media reported.
