SC issues notice to EC and Centre on EVM

New Delhi, Apr 13 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Thursday issued notice to the Election Commission and the Centre in response to a pleas by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) challenging the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) without keeping a paper trail, media reports said.

Appearing for BSP, senior advocate and Congress leader P. Chidambaram said they were not questioning the results of the recently concluded elections.

The apex court pointed out that while any technology can be tampered with but there has to be sufficient grounds for raising doubts, media reports said. 

The next hearing is scheduled for May 8.
