Saradha scam: Mithun Chakraborty returns Rs. 1.19 Crore to ED

Kolkata, June 16 (IBNS): Trinamool congress MP and actor Mithun Chakraborty on Tuesday returned an amount of Rs. 1.19 crore which he received from the Saradha Group to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), reports said.

He received this money for appearing on one of Saradha's TV channels.

Chakraborty returned the money at the ED office in Kolkata.

He was questioned last month by the ED in connection with the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam.

Earlier, the ED had found that an amount of about Rs. 2 crore had gone into Chakraborty's account from Saradha business portals.

However, the actor had maintained that his association with the group was purely professional.

The multi-crore scam left lakhs of depositors fleeced in West Bengal and triggered a political uproar.
