Mumbai, Dec 24 (IBNS): Bollywood actor and 1993 Mumbai serial blast case convict Sanjay Dutt has been granted a 14-day furlough, a temporary leave of absence, by the Yerwada Jail in Pune.

Dutt, on Wednesday reached Mumbai to celebrate Christmas with his family.

Furlough is an annual leave granted to prisoners to meet their relatives.

"Furlough is the right of every prisoner. I got furlough just like any other prisoner as I had appealed for it five months back," Dutt said after coming out of jail.

In October 2013, Dutt was out on furlough for four weeks on medical grounds.

He had also been granted paroles earlier.

The Supreme Court on Mar 21, 2013 announced its verdict on Dutt's sentencing for illegal arms possession during the Mumbai bombings that had killed 257 people in 1993 in the nation's financial hub.
