US Vice President JD Vance met Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon arrival, ahead of the crucial talks.

According to a statement shared on the Prime Minister’s official X handle, Sharif expressed hope that the discussions would serve as a stepping stone toward durable peace in the region.

“The Prime Minister reiterated that Pakistan looks forward to continuing its facilitation of both sides in making progress towards sustainable peace,” the statement said.

Sharif was assisted during the meeting by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

An Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has also reached Pakistan for the talks.
