Rose Valley scam: CBI quizzes Shrikant Mohta of Shree Venkatesh Films
Kolkata, Aug 29 (IBNS): The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday interrogated one of the founder-directors of SVF Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. (formerly Shree Venkatesh Films), Shrikant Mohta, in connection with its ongoing probe into Rose Valley chit fund scam, officials said.
After being summoned by the Central probe agency, Mohta appeared before the investigators at CBI's office at CGO Complex in Kolkata's Salt Lake area at around 3 pm. and he was quizzed for nearly 2.5 hours.
Sources in the CBI said that Shrikant Mohta was questioned on a 25-crore rupees deal that was signed between SVF and Rose Valley group owned TV channel in 2010.
"An infotainment channel, owned by the media and entertainment wing of Rose Valley group, signed a deal worth 25 crore rupees in 2010 with Shree Venkatesh Films to get broadcasting rights of 70 movies, produced by SVF Entertainment Ltd," a CBI official told IBNS.
"Later in that year, Rose Valley chairman Gautam Kundu moved to a court against SVF alleging that the Kolkata based film production company had given broadcasting rights of only 30 cinemas to Rose Valley owned TV channel, instead of 70 movies which was mentioned in the multi-crore deal," the official said.
"We quizzed one of the founder-directors, Shirkant Mohta, to know more about the deal and he has been asked to put forward all documents related to the deal before our investigators," he added.
However, Shrikant Mohta denied to comment on the matter.
