Released by Supreme Court, Rajiv Gandhi's killer meets MK Stalin
Chennai/IBNS: AG Perarivalan, one of the seven convicts in former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassination case whose release was ordered by the Supreme Court on Wednesday, met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in Chennai this evening.
Perarivalan was accompanied by his mother Arputhammal.
Tweeting a video of the meeting, Stalin in a Tamil post wrote: "Brother Perarivalan, who has returned from over 30 years in prison, met them and tied the knot! I asked Brother Perarivalan and Arputhammal to set up a home life for themselves and live happily."

The Supreme Court Wednesday ordered the release of AG Perarivalan, one of the convicts in the case pertaining to the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, after 31 years, media reports said.
The judgement could pave the way for release of six other convicts in the case.
"Truth and justice were on our side. This wouldn't have happened without the support and love of the people," Perarivalan said after the judgement.
Perarivalan, who was 19 at the time of the assassination, was accused of buying two nine-volt batteries for Sivarasan, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam man, who was the mastermind of assassination.
Gandhi was assassinated by a suicide bomber during an election rally in 1991.
Critics have questioned the order stating what message the release of convicts in an assassination case of a former Prime Minister sends to the world. The release might lead to the release of the other six convicts in the case -- including Nalini Sriharan and her husband Murugan, a Sri Lankan.
Congress has expressed its "sorrow and fury" over the release.
