New Delhi, Sept 29 (IBNS): Taking forward the initiative of 'Clean India' drive undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ram Villas Paswan kicked off 'Swachh Bharat Mission' at the Food Corporation of India (FCI) headquarter on Monday with an appeal to the employees to wholeheartedly join the countrywide cleanliness drive.

Sweeping the complex of FCI, Paswan said, "Swachh Bharat Mission is a laudable campaign being launched by the Government at the initiative of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, an ardent practitioner of cleanliness.”

Underlying the importance of voluntary cleaning of the surrounding areas by giving at least two hours every week, Paswan said that participation in such drive highlights the dignity of labour also.

“I am making an earnest appeal to all the employees of FCI and officials of my ministry to join the campaign and keep their homes, offices, neighbourhoods, town and cities spick and span. Cleanliness and hygiene will definitely improve the environment of the offices and performance of the officials”, he added.
