Ram Nath Kovind makes twitter debut as President

New Delhi Jul 25 (IBNS) : First citizen Ram Nath Kovind made his Presidential Twitter debut on Tuesday with a more than three million following.

His first tweet said he is honoured to be sworn-in as the 14th President of India.

"Honoured to be sworn in as the 14th President of India; would be carrying out my responsibilities with all humility #PresidentKovind.

Kovind had over three million followers minutes after he was sworn-in as the President. 

He is the second Dalit President after K R Narayanan.

Kovind was sworn-in by Chief Justice J S Khehar.

In his second tweet, President Kovind promised to stay true to all his duties and the people. "I bow to the 125 crore citizens of this great nation and promise to stay true to the trust they have bestowed on me #PresidentKovind".

Addressing the gathering immediately after taking oath, President Kovind, 71, pledged to protect the Constitution and said that the key to India's success is 'unity in diversity'.

"We are different but we are one and united. These are the traditional values and there is no contradiction or alternative opinion about it," the new President said in his Hindi speech.
