Rajnath Singh reviews high-level security meeting

New Delhi, Feb 27 (UNI/IBNS) :Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday reviewed a high-level security meeting in the wake of IAF airstrike across the border.

National Security Advisor, Home Secretary, heads of RAW and IB, DGs of CRPF and CISF along with the senior officials of the Ministry were present in the meeting.

According to sources in Home Ministry, the security of all civilian airports was reviewed in the meeting.

The CISF has been asked to tighten the security in all the airports. The intelligence agencies have specific inputs wherein the civilian airports may be targeted, the sources added.

'The airports, along with western and northern borders like Amritsar, Jammu Srinagar and Leh have been asked to better arrangement for evacuation and other emergencies,' the sources said.

The Srinagar Airport is guarded by the CRPF and the Force DG also briefed the higher ups for the security arrangements at Srinagar airport. Additional deployment of forces have been made at Srinagar airport and nearby areas.
The Home Minister was also briefed about the border situation, especially on the LoC and western border.

The DGs have been given specific instructions for complete preparedness at the border and full strength deployment with all necessary backup mechanism in place.

''Instructions have been given for safeguarding civilian population and to adhere to Standard Operative Procedure in case of any emergency", a senior home Ministry official said.

The Centre has also asked respective states to be prepared for evacuation of civilians residing in villages close to western border and LOC.
The state governments have also been directed to make the bunkers habitable in the villages close to IB.
