Rahul's 'personal assurance' of filling 22 lakh govt posts in a year

Shahdol, MP, Apr 23 (UNI): Congress president Rahul Gandhi provided a “personal assurance” on Tuesday that approximately 22 lakh vacant government positions would be filled within a year of his party assuming the reins at the Centre.

“Under the minimum income guarantee scheme; Rs 72,000 shall be deposited annually in bank accounts of five crore indigent women, which will translate into economic betterment of necessitous and tribal folk, thereby making markets radiant again and giving financial activities a fillip," he said.

"Industrial units and businesses that closed down owing to demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax shall also be benefitted. At the time of the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, the Congress promised that agrarian debt up to a ceiling of Rs 2 lakh would be waived within ten days of its coming to power but implementation did not even take two days,” he added while addressing an election rally here.

Speaking on the occasion, chief minister Kamal Nath underlined the fact that the Congress dispensation – which has been in the saddle for four months – commenced fulfilling manifesto promises in a sequential manner and every pledge would become a reality.

“In comparison, the situation that prevailed during the predecessor Bharatiya Janata Party government’s tenure is no secret. The state had the dubious distinction of being numero uno vis-a-vis cultivators’ suicides and crimes against women,” he said.
