Rahul Gandhi attacks Modi on corruption, BJP leaders

| | Jul 23, 2015, at 06:53 pm
New Delhi, July 23 (IBNS) Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the issue of corruption and said there has to be resignations of tainted BJP leaders first before they allow any discussion.

Congress has been demanding resignations of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Chief Ministers Vasundhara Raje and Shivraj Singh Chouhan on the issue of Lalit Modi and Vyapam scam and disrupting Parliament.

"The Prime Minister during election had said that he would neither take bribe nor allow it. There should a debate on that," said Rahul Gandhi as Parliament was rocked and adjourned over the issues.

"The people of the country did not vote for Sushma ji, they voted for Narendra Modi. His credibility is going down," said Rahul Gandhi

"The PM is not just the PM of BJP, he is the PM of the country. The people of the country want to know what the PM is thinking," he asked.

The all out war  between the ruling BJP and the opposition led to adjournment of both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha till noon on Thursday in a repeat action of the previous two days of the monsoon session of Parliament.

Scenes of continued uproar prevailed in both houses as a recalcitrant opposition stuck to its demand for resignation of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on the Lalit Modi issue, but the government said: "discuss or disrupt, there will be no resignation."

In a counter to the Congress-led onslaught on the government on issues like Lalit Modi and Vyapam scam the BJP gave  notices in both houses to take corruption issues in Congress-ruled states.

The Congress, on the other hand, gave an adjournment notice seeking government's reply on scandals.
