Prophet would have been shocked: Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen tweets following violent protests over Nupur Sharma's remark
Dhaka: Exiled Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen on Saturday reacted strongly against the violent protest taking place over a remark by a former BJP leader on Prohpet Mohammed and said he would have been "shocked to see the madness of Muslim fanatics around the world".
"Even if prophet Muhammad was alive today, he would have been shocked to see the madness of the Muslim fanatics around the world," he tweeted.
Taslima has been living in exile for several years now since her book 'Lajja' triggered criticisms in Bangladesh.
She had to leave her nation in 1994 after she received death threats by fundamentalist outfits who accused her of anti-Islamic views.

During these years, Taslima has stayed in India on several occasions on short residency permits.
She has Swedish citizenship.
Several Indian cities have witnessed violent protests in recent days over the remark of former BJP leader Nupur Sharma against Prophet Mohammed.
Two people died and 10 others were injured in a violence which broke out in Jharkhand's capital Ranchi Friday during the protests against Sharma's remark.
