President, PM mourn JB Patnaik's death

New Delhi, Apr 21 (IBNS): President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condemned the death of former Odisha CM JB Patnaik.

President Pranab Mukherjee tweeted: "Heartfelt condolences on the sad demise of Shri JB Patnaik; his service to the nation will be always remembered PresidentMukherjee."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said: "Shri JB Patnaik will be remembered as a pillar of Odisha politics, a popular leader always connected with people's views & aspirations. Shri JB Patnaik's contribution to Odisha's development will always be remembered. Saddened on his demise. Condolences to his family."

Apart from the President and the PM, other political leaders also mourned the death of the leader.

Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel tweeted: "Condolences to the people of Odisha & family of Shri JB Patnaik on his sad demise. May his soul rest in peace!."

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said: "Saddened to hear JB Patnaik passed away. I knew him well. In my early career, whenever I visited Odisha, he was generous with his time. RIP."

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said :"My condolences on the sad demise of Sh. J.B. Patnaik, a veteran politician & thrice CM of Odisha. May god bestow peace to the departed soul."

Patnaik died in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati city on Tuesday.

He was 89.
