President makes debut on Twitter

New Delhi, July 1 (IBNS) Creating a history, Pranab Mukherjee joined Twitter on Tuesday, making him the first President of Indian to join the micro-blogging site.

The Twitter handle-@RashtrapatiBhvn- will update on the activities of Mukherjee.

"Rashtrapati Bhavan is now on Twitter. Please follow us for regular updates," read a tweet on Tuesday.

The profile page of the President’s handle reads: " This is the official Twitter account of Rashtrapati Bhavan and is run by President’s Secretariat. Tweets from the President are signed – President Mukherjee."

Within few hours since making debut, over 10,000 netizens are currently following the President's handle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is active on Twitter.

A recent survey said Modi is the Modi fourth-most followed world leader on Twitter.
