Pranab Mukherjee greets Guyana on the 50th anniversary of its Independence Day

New Delhi, May 25 (IBNS) President Pranab Mukherjee extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on the eve of their Independence Day (May 26, 2016).

Guyana, located on South America's North Atlantic coast, is celebrating the 50th year of its independence.

In a message to President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Brig. (Retd) David Arthur Granger,  Mukherjee said, “The relations between India and Guyana are based on the solid foundation of shared history and culture. These have been further strengthened through exchanges of high level visits and people-to-people contacts. Your Excellency’s meeting with Prime Minister of India in New York in September 2015 has imparted a fresh impetus to our ties. I am confident that this spirit of cooperation will be further enhanced in the coming years.

I take this opportunity to convey to Your Excellency my best wishes for your well being and for the continued prosperity and progress of the friendly people of Guyana”.
