Police head constable shot dead by militants in J&K’s Baramulla

Srinagar/IBNS: A Jammu and Kashmir Police Head Constable was shot dead by militants at his residence in Baramulla district on Tuesday.

Police said terrorists fired upon Head Constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar, a resident of Wailoo Kralpora in Baramulla district.

“He was shifted to Sub District hospital in a critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries,” a police officer said.

“Injured Police Personnel #succumbed to his injuries & attained #martyrdom. We pay our rich tributes to the #martyr & stand by his family at this critical juncture,” Kashmir Police wrote in a tweet.

Soon after the incident, senior security officers rushed to the area and a search operation was going on to trace the attackers.

In the first such killing in Kashmir this year, a labourer from Uttar Pradesh Mukesh Kumar was shot dead by militants in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir.

On Sunday, a police inspector Masroor Ahmad was critically wounded after a militant shot at him in Srinagar’s Eidgah locality, while he was playing cricket.
