Police foils ULFA(I)'s bid, nabs hardcore militant

Guwahati, July 21 (IBNS): The Assam police foiled a bid of Paresh Baruah alias Paresh Asom led ULFA(I) after apprehending a hardcore militant of the outfit group in Upper Assam's Dibrugarh district on Thursday.
Based on intelligence input, police launched operation at Duliajan area in the oil rich Dibrugarh district and nabbed a hardcore ULFA(I) militant.
 
The nabbed militant was identified as Babul Dihingia and security personnel had recovered two powerful hand grenades in possession from him.
 
A top police official said that, ULFA(I) had sent a militant group including Babul Dihingia from Myanmar to Assam to trigger major explosions, attack in the Upper Assam districts ahead of Independence Day.
 
“We have alerted all police stations in all districts and launched massive operation against the militants across the state,” the police official said.
