Police arrest youth for posting derogatory remarks against Assam CM

Guwahati, Nov 23 (IBNS): Assam police have arrested a youth for allegedly posting derogatory remarks against Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

According to the reports, the youth identified as Pranob Borah, a businessman hailing from Guwahati had recently wrote a post on Facebook over the Citizenship Amendment Bill issue and he targeted the Assam CM in his post.

Following the objectionable remarks against the Assam CM, Guwahati city police had arrested the youth from Bharalumukh area.

A case (no -949/2018) was registered under section 153 (B) of the IPC and IT Act 66 (F) at Bharalumukh police station.

The youth was produced before the CJM court in Guwahati and sent him to 14 days judicial custody.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Guwahati City police Ponjit Dowarah said that, police had arrested the youth for posting objectionable contents on social media.

“We are urging the people, not to post any objectionable contents on social media,” Ponjit Dowarah said.
