Saharanpur, May 26 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur on Thursday to mark the completion of two years of the incumbent central government, warned the sugarcane mills of consequences if they dare repeat their past mistakes and also urged the state governments to keep a check.

"I urge state governments and warn the sugar mills...what earlier happened with sugarcane farmers will no longer go on," PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister said that the government is working towards the well being of farmers.

"Merely throwing crumbs at farmers is not our way of working. We are trying to solve the problems the farmers face," he said.

"We want to ensure that our sugarcane farmers do not face any problems," Modi added.

Listing out opportunities the Centre have provided the farmers, PM Modi said, "We have given soil health cards to our farmers. Give our farmers the right opportunity and see the wonders they can do."

Speaking about LPG subsidy, the PM said that three crores family benefited from the initiative and he plans to take the tally to five crores.

"In last year 3 crore poor families got free LPG connection. Our aim is to provide 5 crore LPG connections to poor families in next 3 years," he said.

PM Modi also urged the doctors to dedicate at least 12 days a year, where they will treat expecting mothers free of cost.

"I appeal doctors to dedicate 12 days per year for free treatment to poor expecting mothers," he said.
