PM Narendra Modi pays tribute to social reformer Savitribai Phule

New Delhi, Jan 3 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday, paid tributes to social reformer Savitribai Phule on her birth anniversary.

“I bow to the great Savitribai Phule on her Jayanti. Hers was a life devoted to the empowerment of the poor and marginalised. She gave utmost importance to education and social reform. We are deeply guided by her ideals and are working tirelessly towards fulfilling her vision”, the Prime Minister said.

Savitribai Jyotirao Phule (January 3, 1831 – March 10, 1897) was an Indian social reformer and poet.

She is regarded as an important figure of the social reform movement in Maharashtra.
