PM Modi to address Indian community in Bangladesh
Dhaka, June 7 (IBNS): On the second day of his historic trip to Bangladesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Indian community at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre here.
Modi will then leave for New Delhi.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi, who is visiting Bangladesh for the first time, offered prayers at the 12th century Dhakeshwari temple in the Lalbagh area in Dhaka.
"An early morning temple visit. PM @narendramodi worships at the Sree Sree Dhakeshwari Temple in Dhaka," Ministry of External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted on Sunday.
He also visited the Ramakrishna Mission in Bangladesh.
"Last month in Kolkata. This month in Dhaka. PM visits Ramakrishna Mission in Bangladesh," Swarup posted.
Following these visits, PM Modi inaugurated the newly-constructed Indian High Commission's Chancery at Baridhara.
"Sowing seeds for the future. PM @narendramodi plants a sapling at the new High Commission Chancery Complex," The MEA spokesperson wrote.
Reaching out to Bangladesh directly, Modi inaugurated six projects undertaken with grant in aid and interacted with the beneficiaries.
He will also receive the Bangladesh Liberation War Honour from President Abdul Hamid on behalf of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
"A warmth that brings two neighbours together. PM @narendramodi and President Abdul Hamid confer at Bangabhawan," Swarup posted.
Modi is scheduled to meet Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia.
Modi arrived in Dhaka on Saturday morning on a two-day visit to the country to settle a four-decade-old problem over the 4,096 km borderline between the two countries by finalising a landmark agreement apart from signing few key pacts.
His visit concludes on Sunday.
