PM Modi set to review Covid-19 situation with CMs ahead of festivals

New Delhi/UNI: Amid growing cases of Covid-19 in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually interact with Chief Ministers and health officials on Wednesday to take stock of the emerging situation in the country.

"PM Modi will interact with CMs on the COVID related situation in the country through video conferencing on Wednesday at 12 noon," officials said.

Health secretary Rajesh Bhushan will make a presentation in the meeting on the latest Covid situation in the country based on which the Prime Minister will discuss state specific strategies to deal with the cases.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and other senior officials will also be present in the meeting.

The Prime Minister on Sunday during Mann Ki Baat broadcast urged people to remain vigilant and keep following Covid-19 appropriate behavior.

"In the coming days, the festival of Eid is also going to come. Akshaya Tritiya and the birth anniversary of Lord Parashuram will also be celebrated on May 3. A few days later, the festival of Vaishakh Budh Purnima will also come.

"All these festivals are festivals of restraint, purity, charity and harmony. Wishing you all a very Happy Holidays in advance. Amid these festivals, you also have to remain alert from Corona," the Prime Minister said.

Wearing a mask, washing hands at regular intervals, whatever are the necessary measures for prevention, keep following them, the Prime Minister added.

According to the Health Ministry statistics on Wednesday, India recorded 2,927 Covid cases in the last 24 hours.

India's active caseload currently stands at 16,279.

A total of 32 people have died in the last 24 hours taking the total tally of fatalities to 5,23,654.

188.19 cr vaccine doses have been administered so far under the national vaccination drive against the pandemic.
