PM Modi sends 100 pairs of jute footwear for workers of Kashi Vishwanath

New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent 100 pairs of jute footwear for those working at Kashi Vishwanath Dham in UP's Varanasi, sources said here on Monday.

PM Modi, who has been deeply involved with the Kashi Vishwanath Dham and keeps a tab on all issues and developments in Varanasi as he represents the parliamentary constituency, has sent these jute footwears after he noticed that most of the staff working at the temple discharged their duties bare-footed because it is forbidden to wear footwear made with leather or rubber inside the temple premises.

"The PM immediately got 100 pairs of jute footwear procured and sent them over to Kashi Vishwanath Dham so that those performing their duties don’t have to stay bare-footed in the chilling cold," sources said.

The staff include priests, security guards, sanitation workers and others.

Last month, the PM during his visit to his home constituency, inaugurated phase 1 of Kashi Vishwanath Dham built at a cost of around Rs 339 crore.
