PM Modi not to attend Kejriwal,s oath taking ceremony

New Delhi, Feb 12 (IBNS): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be able to attend Delhi's CM designate Arvind Kejriwal's oath taking ceremony on Saturday.

After meeting the PM at his 7 Race Course Road residence here, Sisodia said: "We requested him to be present at the oath taking ceremony on February 14. But he will not be able to attend it."

Days after Kejriwal's AAP registered a massive victory in the Delhi Assembly polls, the CM designate and Sisodia met Modi and raised the issue of granting full statehood to Delhi.

Kejriwal is all set to take oath of office in a grand manner at the Ramlila Maidan.

Following his landslide victory, Kejriwal sent a message of thanks to the voters on FM radio and also invited the Delhi residents for his oath-taking ceremony at the Ramlila Maidan.

Winning 67 seats out of the total 70, the AAP surpassed the figures that were projected by exit polls on Saturday when Delhi had voted to elect a new Assembly.

Starting another innings in his political career, Kejriwal, who had shocked Delhi by resigning as the Delhi Chief Minister last year Feb only after 49 days in power, will take oath on Saturday as the chief minister of Delhi for the second time.
