Rehan, Nov 2 (IBNS): Ahead of the assembly election in the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Rehan in Himachal Pradesh on Thursday to hold a rally, media reports said.

Modi called the incumbent Congress as the "laughing club" while speaking at the rally.

He also said it is the time to save the state from the clutches of the Congress.

The election is scheduled to be held on November 9. The result of the poll will be out on November 18.

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday named Prem Kumar Dhumal as its chief ministerial candidate for the assembly polls in Himachal Pradesh.

Dhumal had earlier served the state as the chief minister two times in his career.

The name was announced on Tuesday by BJP president Amit Shah.

Dhumal will contest from Sujanpur seat.

The Congress released their manifesto for the upcoming Himachal Pradesh assembly election, scheduled to take place this month, on Wednesday.

The Congress is presently ruling the state under chief minister Virbhadra Singh.
