Peace talk with KPLT to start soon : Assam DGP

Guwahati, Feb 5 (IBNS) : Assam government is all set to prepare modalities for peace talk with the Karbi outfit group Karbi People’s Liberation Tiger (KPLT).

Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay on Sunday said that, peace talk with KPLT will start soon.

“The modalaties for peace talk are being prepared at present and it would likely to start by April next,” Sahay said.

“KPLT has already declared unilateral ceasefire and the Assam government also announced to withhold counter insurgency operations against the outfit group,” the Assam DGP said.

“It is a very good decision taken by the Karbi outfit group to come forward for peace talk and we welcomed it,” Sahay said.

On Oct 20, 2016 KPLT had declared of a six-month unilateral ceasefire.

Following the declaration by KPLT, the Assam government on January 30 last had announced to withhold counter insurgency operations against the outfit till April 20 next.
