Godhara, Jul 3 (UNI) More than 70 people have been arrested by police in Kaliavav village of Panchmahal district in Central Gujarat for rioting, trying to encroach forest land and attacking government servants on duty, SP Leena Patil said on Wednesday.

The SP categorically said that those nabbed were locals and people from neighbouring Dahod district and alleged that they were related to Naxalites or Naxal activities.

Ms Patil said that some of the locals had invited their relatives and others with an intention to encroach upon forest land but when forest officials went to the spot and tried to stop them, they attacked them.

'We have arrested more than 70 people in this connection and booked them under various sections pertaining to rioting, attack on government servants and encroaching forest land,' she added.
