Opposition meet on Feb 27 to decide Common Minimum Programme ahead of elections
New Delhi, Feb 22 (IBNS): Several anti-BJP parties will meet on Feb 27 to decide a Common Minimum Programme for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, which is due to be held by May, media reports said.
On Feb 13, multiple opposition parties including the Congress met in New Delhi to discuss the strategy to defeat the BJP in the forthcoming polls. In that meeting only, West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo, Mamata Banerjee, said the opposition parties will form a pre-poll alliance.
However, the Left, which is now strong only in Kerala, is opposed to the idea of any pre-poll alliance.
Leaders from 20 odd parties were seen at the "United India Rally" which was hosted by Banerjee in Kolkata on Jan 19.
On Feb 13, key opposition parties, including the Left, were present at the dharna which was called by Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief, Arvind Kejriwal.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telegu Desam Party (TDP) supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu's dharna also saw a line of anti-BJP leaders this month.
Banerjee's dharna against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in early February also shown the mass support of the Opposition.
The opposition parties have, however, stated they will not pick any Prime Ministerial candidate prior to polls.
