Odd-Even scheme not required in Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari
Nagpur, Sep 13 (UNI) Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Friday said the the Odd-Even vehicle scheme is not needed in Delhi as road built by the central government in the National Capital has significantly reduced the pollution.
'I do not think it is needed. The Ring Road we have built has significantly reduced pollution in the city and our planned schemes will free Delhi from pollution in the next two years', Gadkari said.
The statement came soon after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the odd-even formula will be back in the national capital from November 4 to 15.
The Odd-Even rule will be implemented for the third time in Delhi after being introduced by the Kejriwal government in 2016.
A flagship scheme of the APP government is aimed at combating pollution. The scheme entails cars with odd and even number plates to run on alternate days.
While the BJP criticized him, Kejriwal hailed the Motor Vehicle Act passed by Narendra Modi government, stating that the new law has brought a lot of improvement in the traffic situation in the country.
