No relaxation of lockdown from April 20, decision only after expert review on Apr 27: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal
New Delhi/IBNS: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ruled out lockdown relaxation until review by experts on Apr 27, citing the increasing number of cases in the national capital which account for 12 per cent of the total COVID-19 cases in the country.
Kejriwal said Delhi has 11 districts and all of them have been declared hotspots. As per the Home Ministry directives lockdown cannot be eased in containment zones, he added.
"The lockdown cannot be relaxed on April 20, which is tomorrow" in the city and the situation will be reviewed after a week, he said.
Delhi has 77 containment zones and recorded 1,893 COVID-19 cases so far, including 42 deaths.
Yesterday, of the 736 tests conducted at least 25 per cent cases tested positive for COVID-19, he said, adding that all the 186 patients had not shown any symptoms of the infection and described the situation "dangerous".
He informed that one of the patients who tested positive yesterday volunteered at a state-run food centre in the city. Kejriwal said all the people working at the facility will be tested now, and added that rapid testing will be done at all such food centre across the city to ensure no one working there is infected.
The Chief Minister attributed the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in the national capital to Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz mosque, pointing out that Delhi with about 2 per cent of the population of the country accounts for 12 per cent of the COVID-19 cases.
